Hurry up and relax!

Some people make it a point to get massage, do yoga, meditate, exercise, and get a healthy amount of sleep. But they seem to be the minority. Of those who don't practice self-care, I find the excuse is always the same: not enough time. And I totally get it! Our lives are hectic. We are workaholics, spreading ourselves thin and burning the candle at both ends.

But this lifestyle eventually leads to injury, illness, or burnout. What can we do? We can't cancel the meeting with the executive team to go to a yoga class. We can't meditate while our kids are demanding attention. We can't wake up an hour earlier to exercise - we barely get enough sleep as it is.

But what if self-care didn't have to take hours? What if it only took 10 minutes? Or even one minute? A recent study found that just 10 minutes of guided mindfulness meditation caused college students to perform better on cognitive tasks, as compared to the control group of college students, who spent 10 minutes listening to information about sequoia trees.

If you can't even find 10 minutes to meditate, try one of the videos from my Hurry Up and Relax playlist. These exercises help you stretch tight muscles, strengthen weak muscles, and relax and decompress all in only 1 to 3.5 minutes! You can even practice some of these exercises when you're at your computer, riding the train, in the shower, or standing in line at the supermarket.

No matter how busy we are, we can always find a minute here or there to take care of ourselves. It may not seem like much, but those minutes can add up to more energy, less stress, pain relief, and career longevity. Give your life a healthy boost. A few minutes is all it takes!

You're 2 minutes away from a happy neck and shoulders

Here is the latest addition to my "Hurry Up and Relax" series. Now you can release neck, shoulder, and upper back tension in less than 2 minutes! Try this one easy stretch to quickly alleviate neck, shoulder, and upper back tension.

What's new with me ...

I am not a fan of cold weather. If you don't like it either, come in for a massage. I've got my table warmer on my massage table, so that when you visit you'll be toasty warm. :)

My 5-year-old comedian told me her latest joke last night. "What happened when the elephant sat on the sidewalk?" I don't know, what? "Nobody laughed, but the sidewalk cracked up!"
