Improve your body image with massage

Do you love your body? If you answered "no," you're not alone. Television, magazines, and advertisements bombard us every day with images of what is considered idealistic beauty. But these photos are digitally altered to the point of unrealistic and unattainable "perfection," leaving us to feel crumby about our own imperfect bodies.

My previous articles have explored many physical and physiological benefits of massage therapy. But did you know that massage can boost self-confidence and improve body image? Touch that is therapeutic and nurturing helps us know, accept, and take pleasure in our own bodies. In contrast to photoshopped images and the negative self-feelings they promote, massage therapy is grounding and tangible. It alleviates anxiety and allows you to feel good in your body, and therefore feel good about your body.

When we feel better about our bodies, we are inspired to take better care of ourselves. In other words, massage therapy can have a profoundly positive change on your life. So turn off the television, go get a massage, and love yourself just the way you are.
